🎉 This September we are delighted to welcome five new members to the DataHealth Lab!

Abrar Jamal joins as a PhD student at UAB. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental and Occupational Health from Kuwait University and has professional experience in public health surveillance and vaccination campaigns. His doctoral research will focus on vaccine coverage, uptake and hesitancy.

Dr. Anna Alari joins as a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the project Protecting Respiratory Health in Catalonia: Climate, Pollution, and Patient Perspectives (PRISMA-CAT), funded by La Marató de 3Cat. She has expertise in the health impacts of environmental exposures and previous postdoctoral experience at INSERM, UC San Diego and ISGlobal, with a focus on climate change, air pollution and the environmental drivers of infectious diseases.

Lisany Krug Mareto joins us for a 9-month sandwich PhD stay, in the second year of her doctorate at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), Brazil, funded by CAPES. She works on epidemiological surveillance and neglected tropical diseases, and has previously worked on Zika virus and childhood vaccination coverage.

Rodrigo Scotini joins us as a PhD student at UAB. He brings over a decade of experience in international public health policy, and is currently Executive Director of the Infectious Disease Alliance. His doctoral research focuses on harmonising infectious disease burden and health financing data to identify systematic gaps in investment, building on a One Health approach.

Sofia Di Bisceglie joins us for a 3-month Erasmus+ traineeship, having recently completed her medical degree at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Italy. During her stay she will work in the critical care area.

Their arrival strengthens the international and interdisciplinary profile of our group, across infectious diseases, climate and health, and health policy.

Welcome, Abrar, Anna, Lisany, Rodrigo and Sofia! 👏
